Nini Andrade Silva formou-se em Design no Instituto de Artes Visuais, Design e Marketing (IADE), em Lisboa. Em simultâneo, prosseguiu com o seu percurso académico e profissional em locais tão diversos como Nova Iorque, Londres, Paris, África do Sul e Dinamarca. 

Possui uma impressionante obra além-fronteiras, tendo sido distinguida por várias instituições de relevo. 

É presença assídua em múltiplas publicações internacionais de prestígio, como The New York Times, Financial Times, El Pais, Wallpaper, Monocle, Condé Nast Traveller, Sleeper Magazine, Harrods ou Architectural Digest. 

A 10 de Junho de 2011, Nini Andrade Silva foi distinguida pela Presidência da República Portuguesa com o Título Honorífico da Grande Ordem do Infante D. Henrique Grau de Oficial. Em 2021, foi nomeada Cônsul Honorária da República da Colômbia na Madeira, dando assim início à sua carreira diplomática e foi, também, designada Membro Externo do Conselho Geral da Universidade da Madeira e Presidente da Comissão de Imagem, Cultura e Património do Conselho Geral da mesma Universidade. 

Já em 2022, foi agraciada pela Presidência da República da Colômbia com a Orden Nacional al Mérito, grau de Caballero. 

É ainda embaixadora da Associação de Desenvolvimento Comunitário do Funchal – Garouta do Calhau, uma instituição de solidariedade social que tem como missão promover a integração e desenvolvimento social dos grupos sociais mais desfavorecidos e em situação de risco.

Nini Andrade Silva graduated in Design from the Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing (IADE) in Lisbon. At the same time, she continued her academic and professional journey in such diverse places as New York, London, Paris, South Africa, and Denmark.

She has an impressive body of work beyond Portugal’s borders and has been recognized by several prestigious institutions.

She is a regular presence in multiple renowned international publications, such as The New York Times, Financial Times, El País, Wallpaper, Monocle, Condé Nast Traveller, Sleeper Magazine, Harrods, and Architectural Digest.

On June 10, 2011, Nini Andrade Silva was honored by the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic with the Honorary Title of the Grand Order of Prince Henry, Officer Grade. In 2021, she was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Colombia in Madeira, thus beginning her diplomatic career. That same year, she was also appointed External Member of the General Council of the University of Madeira and Chair of the Image, Culture and Heritage Committee of the University’s General Council.

In 2022, she was further honored by the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia with the National Order of Merit, Knight Grade.

She is also ambassador of the Funchal Community Development Association – Garouta do Calhau, a social solidarity institution whose mission is to promote the integration and social development of the most disadvantaged and at-risk social groups.

O que fazemos quando vamos para o Espaço?

O Espaço é o único lugar inconquistado pelo Homem e o sistema solar em que nos aventuramos não é mais do que a nova fronteira agora que as fronteiras terrestres foram descobertas. Reivindicamos a nossa espécie alargando o nosso território – somos, afinal, um ser cósmico. Qual é a nossa agenda existencial? E quais as regras para essa conquista? O Espaço é, desde os primórdios da Humanidade, uma extensão do imaginário artístico – a Arte dá forma simbólica ao desejo humano de transcendência e expansão. Explorar o espaço sem arte e arquitetura seria um ato mecânico. Com elas, torna-se um ato intrinsecamente humano.

What do we do when we go to Space?

Space is the only unconquered place by humankind, and the solar system we venture into is nothing more than the new frontier now that Earth’s borders have been discovered. We claim our species by expanding our territory — after all, we are a cosmic being. What is our existential agenda? And what are the rules for this conquest?

Since the dawn of humanity, Space has been an extension of the artistic imagination — Art gives symbolic form to the human desire for transcendence and expansion. Exploring space without art and architecture would be a mechanical act. With them, it becomes an intrinsically human act.
